• The English teacher guide for tandem in schools is now available.
• TANDEM®-Grants: The TANDEM®-Fundazioa and the network of TANDEM® schools offer for free 34 grants for language courses (6 languages in 17 towns). Deadline: 30 April 2001.

• Information on finding tandem partners provided by the Tandem Agency (updated several times per day)
• The Tandem Servers will have a new design in 2001
  
  The first Tandem Server pages go back to 1994; the current structure of the servers was fixed already in 1997. In 2001, the Tandem Servers will be redesigned to adapt to the growing amount of information, to the variety of user needs as well as to new technical possibilities. Due to the large number of topic areas, this reorganization will take some time and will not be completed for all languages at the same time. Important steps:
  
  
• New entry pages in several languages simplifying information access (Jan/Feb 2001)
• New topic areas will reorganise information according to specific topics, e.g.
  Tandem in schools (Jan. 2001)
  Tandem partners (spring 2001): Finding tandem partners for individual learners and classes
  Experience reports (spring 2001): Tandem in various curricular contexts
  Face-to-face tandem (spring 2001): Tandem where the partners meet in person - hints, organisors etc.
  eTandem, i.e. tandem at a distance via electronic media such as Internet or telephone (restructuring in spring 2001)
  etc.
  
• New corporate design (summer 2001)
  

Costs for the operation and for the restructuring of the Tandem Servers are high. We are always grateful for any financial or technical support (translations, design proposals, general suggestions).

The European Union LINGUA-D project Tandem Language Learning Partnerships for Schools has been completed. From December 1998 through December 2000, more than 20 schools and teacher training institutions from France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Spain worked together to facilitate the integration of tandem in schools through the development of new didactic materials. The results will be published in early 2001, in part on this server. You'll find more information in the topic area Tandem in schools.
